Working with researchers, institutions, students and volunteers, Great Barrier Reef Legacy facilitate research projects, citizen science and educational programs to help build resilience for Low Isles and the community.

With funding from LIPS in a joint LIPS-Legacy education / citizen science / community engagement venture priorities include:

  • "Reef in a Box" an interpretive educational kit featuring facsimiles of life-size marine creatures and incorporating age-appropriate activities, to be used in local schools and during field trips to Low Isles

  • creating video links during the Legacy Far North Super Coral expedition to communicate with the community and schools and share data on the resilience of the reef and its awesome megafauna

  • Start to build research connections for the anniversary replica of the 1928/29 expedition
