The GBRMPA/QPWS Reef Joint Field Management Program (RJFMP) is seeking permanent caretakers for the day-to-day maintenance of Low Isles through a limited, merit-based tender process being offered exclusively through groups involved in established reef protection and stewardship initiatives, including the Low Isles Preservation Society (LIPS), Local Marine Advisory Committee (LMAC) members and partners and Master Reef Guides.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Reef Joint Field Management Program (RJFMP) is seeking permanent caretakers (under a Contract arrangement) for the day-to-day management of Low Isles through a limited, merit-based tender process being offered to targeted individuals, groups and networks.
Caretakers are required to live permanently on Low Isles for the Contract term (12 months with 2 x 1 year extension options) and assist with the protection and management of the natural and cultural heritage values of Low Isles. Core responsibilities include:
· Maintaining a presence on Low Isles
· General grounds maintenance and vegetation management
· Undertaking and/or facilitating infrastructure maintenance and repairs
· Performing visitor contact duties, including answering enquiries, providing education and advice to ensure visitor safety and protection of natural and cultural heritage values
· Maintaining positive and effective communication and relationships with stakeholders
· Monitoring visitor compliance with marine park rules, and reporting incidences of non-compliance
· Managing bookings and use of facilities

Potential Suppliers should be aware of the following requirements:
· Suppliers must provide two people who are able to live permanently at Low Isles and provide caretaking services 7 days per week for the term of the Contract. Leave may be granted if substitute relief caretakers from a local volunteer group are organised
· Suppliers will be required to have previous experience in caretaking or property maintenance and have handyperson and/or relevant trade qualifications and experience.
· Suppliers will be required to have relevant insurances, an ABN, and be registered for GST*
· Suppliers will need to hold a valid Provide First Aid certification and a valid Construction White Card*.
· Suppliers are strongly encouraged to undertake a site visit, which will be mandatory of shortlisted Suppliers
* Suppliers that do not satisfy these requirements at the time of application may submit a statement indicating their ability to obtain the requirements if they are successful.
Submission requirements for Low Isles caretaker services are outlined in the Request for Quote (below), and include:
Completed and signed Request for Quote
Resumes of both people that will be delivering caretaker services
Statement of suitability (no more than two pages) that demonstrates why the Supplier is best suited for the role
Copy of Certificate of Currency of required insurance policies (or statement indicating ability to gain if successful)
Copy of Certificate of valid Provide First Aid certification (or statement indicating ability to gain if successful)
Evidence of valid Construction White Card (or statement indicating ability to gain if successful)
Completed and signed Contract Details, including pricing.
